How our handmade wooden decor is made
Every Lisa Bee's Crafts piece is made by hand in six steps: the design is traced onto a wood board, cut out, sanded smooth, painted in base coats, detailed with a fine liner brush, and finished with hangers, stands or a protective clear coat. Nothing is printed, and each piece is made to order in Santaquin, Utah.
The steps
- Trace the design. Each original pattern is traced in pencil onto a solid wood board, laid out to follow the grain.
- Cut it out. The shape is cut out by hand along the pencil line, including inside curves and small details.
- Sand it smooth. Saw marks and rough edges are sanded away so every curve is smooth to the touch and ready for paint.
- Paint the base coats. Base colors are brushed on by hand, one color at a time, and left to dry between coats.
- Add the details. A fine liner brush adds outlines, faces, lettering, stripes and flowers — the details that give each piece its character.
- Finish and assemble. Pieces get their final touches — layered accents, stands, wire, ribbon or grapevine hangers — and door pieces get a protective clear coat.
Why handmade pieces look slightly different
Because every piece is cut and painted by hand, no two are exactly alike. Wood grain, brush strokes and small color variations are normal — they are the marks of real handwork, not defects. The photos on each product page show the design; your piece will match it closely but carry its own character.
How long it takes
Pieces are made to order and ship in 3–5 business days. Personalized signs and large orders can take a little longer in the busy fall and Christmas seasons.
